Why a consultancy at all

Academic research into Arabic computational morphology produces papers. It does not, by itself, produce a system that a ministry can run on Monday morning. Information Age Consulting exists to close that distance — to take methods that have been through peer review and put them into production against real institutional text.

The traffic runs both ways, and that is the point. The research supplies the methods: finite-state morphology, inheritance-based derivation, syllabic analysis of i'lāl, sentiment models calibrated on Gulf dialect rather than newswire Arabic. The consultancy supplies what no laboratory can — hundreds of thousands of real citizen comments, ministry document archives, parliamentary correspondence, and the discipline of building something that has to work at national scale on the first attempt.

Several published papers began as problems encountered on client engagements. Two of the three WSIS Prizes were awarded to the consultancy rather than the university.

What the centre does

• Arabic language processing — morphological analysis, topic and entity extraction, sentiment analysis for Modern Standard Arabic and Kuwaiti dialect, deployable inside a client’s own network.
• Generative AI and large language models — retrieval-augmented assistants over institutional archives, and AI agents running in production inside a Kuwaiti law school.
• Social media analytics — real-time listening and content analysis, including Social Watcher and the Kuwait trends archive.
• Data analytics and visualisation — text mining at national scale, and decision dashboards.
• Digital transformation and e-learning — programme design and technical supervision for public-sector projects.

Where the two roles separate

Teaching, supervision, publication and university committee work sit with the professorship. Commercial engagements sit with the consultancy. This page exists so that neither is presented as the other.
