Three WSIS Prizes from the International Telecommunication Union, awarded on behalf of the United Nations — and recognition at home from the Amir, the Minister of Interior and the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The WSIS Prizes are awarded by the ITU on behalf of the United Nations. Winner is the top tier; Champion is the tier below.
WSIS Prizes 2017 — Winner
Kuwait University · Category 9, E-learning · Geneva, 13 June 2017
Awarded for the E-Learning and Virtual Classroom project. Winner is the top tier of the WSIS Prizes, above Champion. The ITU received 467 submissions that year; 345 were nominated, 1.1 million votes were cast, and one Winner was named in each of eighteen categories.
WSIS Prizes 2019 — Champion

The category matters: the United Nations recognised this work specifically as linguistic diversity — which is precisely the argument that Arabic, and Gulf dialect in particular, needs computational treatment on its own terms rather than as an afterthought to English.
WSIS Prizes 2022 — Champion
Information Age Consulting, for Social Watcher · Category 9, Media · Geneva, 3 June 2022
Social Watcher — a computational analysis system for public opinion trends, developed with Ahmad Al-Essa — was selected among the five best projects worldwide in the application of ICT to media. The ITU Secretary-General presented the certificate in Geneva.

Received and honoured following the WSIS Prize 2017.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid Al-Sabah
Honoured on 7 November 2022 at the conclusion of the work of the fact-finding committee on the manipulation of electoral registers and the transfer of votes, formed by Ministerial Decision 698 of 2022. The committee’s findings led to the issuing of Decree-Laws 5 and 6 of 2022.
Speaker of the National Assembly
Congratulated on the international award for Social Watcher.
